Peter & Tasnima’s Joyful Celebration of Love

Peter + Tasnima met as friends at Rhode Island School of Design and found themselves dating in New York City after graduation. In deciding they wanted to host a wedding, they were focused on a few things that meant a lot to them: honoring Tasnima’s family and their heritage; creating a space that was joyful and well-designed; making sure their friends and community members felt welcome (and well-fed); and celebrating their commitment in a way that felt aligned to their values. They had secured the venue (Green Building), their photographer (Shah Miraz Photography), their florist (Geometry Gardens), and had identified a friend who would DJ the party. They wanted to get drop-off catering from a family-favorite Bangladeshi restaurant in Queens, but needed help figuring out how to make the event go smoothly so they could focus on being the guests of honor (and making their mark on the dance floor).

They hired Together Events for Coordination and worked with Maryam for the six weeks leading up to their wedding to figure out all the details. We loved mapping out what existed, finding the gaps that needed filled, and being the team to help connect those dots. We identified the need for an onsite staffing team to manage the venue set up and breakdown, catering management (once the restaurant dropped off the food, someone needed to make sure it made it to the buffet and stayed replenished), and janitorial staff to ensure the space stayed clean and welcoming throughout the night. There were a number of unexpected twists and turns throughout the day (higher than expected temperatures, a groom with not-anxiety-related nausea, and shoes gone missing thanks to a very boisterous Joota Chupai) but the day couldn’t have been more joyful or reflective of these two creatives who came together in celebration and love.
